About
Welcome to Fekete Sas Kávéház, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Hódmezővásárhely, at Kossuth tér 3. This remarkable café beautifully captures the grandiose essence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, offering an unparalleled atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era.
Imagine sipping your favorite brew while surrounded by stunning architectural details that transport you back in time. Despite the serene ambiance outside, many visitors have noted the unusual quietness of the square, allowing for a truly intimate café experience.
At Fekete Sas, you are not just a customer; you are part of a vibrant community. As Emil Váradi noted, it stands as "Hódmezővásárhely's top café," and it's easy to see why. The staff greets you with warmth, creating an inviting environment that feels like home. They have gone above and beyond to cater to diverse dietary needs, making it a fantastic spot for gluten-free meals, as Pam W's experience highlights.
The menu boasts an impressive variety of options, from hearty meals to delicate pastries. Vegetarian selections are prominent, ensuring everyone has something to indulge in, just as Charlie Robinson discovered during his visit. Don’t miss the tantalizing crepes filled with caramel ice cream; they're simply unforgettable!
You can also enjoy the benefits of outdoor seating, nestled in the charming square, which offers a picturesque backdrop for your coffee break or meal. The service is consistently praised for its attentiveness and friendliness, making every dining experience enjoyable and seamless, as noted by Lewis Brooks. The prices are surprisingly reasonable, given the high level of service and ambiance.
Whether you're stopping by for a quick cup of coffee or planning a leisurely meal, Fekete Sas Kávéház is a must-visit destination. It's more than just a café; it's a cultural experience where good food, great service, and a warm atmosphere come together beautifully.
“ Hódmezővásárhely's top café in the traditional grandiose style of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Situated in the city beautiful center. Regrettably and strangely the square is most of the time empty as if someone dropped a neutron bomb. Nevertheless still a best location in town to drink a cup of coffee. ”
“ They are open late and had no problem providing gluten free meals for me. I ate there three times and was at one of their catered events. ”
“ Wonderful restaurant with outdoor seating in a very pretty square in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the menus had English language and the food was delicious. They had a good range of vegetarian options which is rare outside of Budapest! The crepes filled with caramel ice cream for pudding were amazing. Would absolutely recommend this place. ”
“ Unbeatable atmosphere and service. Like out of a film. Superb selection surprisingly low prices. ”
“ We came to Hodmezovasarhely for just one evening and had our dinner here. The food was good and the service was fine as well. ”
“ A great place, the staff is friendly, and the food is exceptionally good. It is usually quite full so I would suggest calling them to make a table reservation. My personal favourites are the pancakes, as they have quite interesting fillings, the vanilla ice cream filling is one of the best. ”
“ Excellent food and service! We had cheese stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon and a cheese and ham toasty. Both were fantastic! They also have menus in English. If you are in this city I highly recommend visiting! ”
